Why Kintyre?

This lovely area of Scotland achieved almost overnight fame in the 1970's when Paul McCartney and his band Wings released their haunting song "Mull of Kintyre". This single became a massive international hit and the first single to sell over 2 million copies in the UK. It was  Christmas number one in the UK  staying  at the top of the charts for a record breaking nine weeks.

Despite the international acclaim, this fabulous part of the world remains completely unspoilt  and provides an unrivalled opportunity to escape the stresses and strains of modern day life.

In 2009, author Avril Stone, who retired to the area from North Devon with her husband Eric wrote the book  "Southend Mull of Kintyre Reunited" which was published by Halsgrove. In this she talks of the relaxed way of life and the "breathtakingly beautiful white sandy beaches". Avril observes  that "rarely will you have to share these beaches with anyone other than oystercatchers and seals who swim as you walk on the beach or laze on the rocks at Keil at low tide. And if you are really lucky on a warm summer's evening you could experience the spellbinding delight of watching a pod of porpoises at play as the sun goes down behind the Mull".

The area offers outstanding opportunities for leisure, world class golf courses, fantastic sailing and water sports, a new award winning swimming pool, excellent local schools and amenities. There is a great family lifestyle to be enjoyed here.
